Morropó

The hill where the lighthouse was built is called Punta Mulas by fishermen and navigators, but is known to the people of the town as Morropó. This name is a corruption of the French, mon repose. The story goes that a Frenchman had built a house on this hill, which he dedicated to rest and relaxation and because of this he named it, Mon Repose, (My Rest).
