Laguna Kiani
At the Laguna Kiani you will have an excellent opportunity to
observe a beautiful mangrove lagoon in the comfort of a wooden
boardwalk constructed through the mangroves and ending in two
viewing decks. At the entrance to the boardwalk is parking and
an informative display of photos, illustrations and written information
about the mangrove environment and its importance to the tropical
ecology.

Oscar Diaz, head of the US Department of Fish and Wildlife reports
that the Kiani Lagoon is also bioluminescent. Unfortunately, you
will not be able to observe this phenomenon unless you wait until
the next full solar eclipse or until the land is returned to the
people of Vieques, because the Department of Fish and Wildlife,
that is now in control of the area, has it restricted to the public
between 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
