Playa Caracas, also known as Bahia Corcho or Red Beach

Playa Caracas Vieques PR

Playa Caracas is a beautiful coral sand beach with coconut palms, sea grapes and clear, calm multihued waters. During the Navy occupation Caracas was often used for officers recreation. It was reopened to the public on May 1, 2003 and Playa Caracas is now a locals' favorite.

Facilities
There are several bohios (covered pavilions) with picnic benches, portable toilets and garbage cans.

How To Get There
Enter through the Camp Garcia gate on route 997. Proceed 1.7 miles where you will see a sign directing you to either Red Beach (Bahia Corcho) or Blue Beach (Bahia Chiva). Go right and Playa Caracas is at the end of the road about .75 miles from the sign.

The Name
Playa Caracas has several names. It is called Caracas, because it is positioned in front of the hill called Cerro Caracas. Because it lies within the bay called Bahia Corcho, the beach itself is sometimes referred to as Bahia Corcho. The Navy renamed the beach Red Beach.
