Steve Simonsen
I was first introduced to Steve Simonsen’s photography when
a friend literally dragged me to see a slide show that was being presented
at the Cinnamon Bay Campground. I resisted because to me, the term
“slide show” conjured up memories of an evening spent
viewing slides of a family function or a trip to Europe – “There’s
Uncle Al and that’s the Eiffel Tower”.
Well, Steve and his wife Janet had put together a slide show that
wasn’t like that at all. Everyone in attendance at the outdoor
amphitheater sat spellbound, transfixed by the cascade of powerful
images and the well-chosen music that accompanied them. After the
presentation, I looked around at the audience – there wasn’t
a dry eye to be seen.
Steve’s work has been featured in prestigious magazines such
as Caribbean Travel & Life, Islands, Playboy’s Sexy Swimsuits,
and National Geographic Traveler. Recently, Steve has published Living
Art, a photographic study of the natural beauty of St. John. For more
