All vehicles crossing the marine terminal at Red Hook shall pay to the Port Authority prior to boarding a barge/vessel to St. John the following fee based on a round trip:

St. John has three barges sometimes called car ferries. Roanoke, Captain Vic and the General.

About the barges

Tuglife, operated by Global Marine, is distinguished by the big potted palm trees on deck. Stanley "Bubbla" Hedrington, the CEO of Global Marine is a native St. Johnian.

Bubbla

The Captain Vic, operated by the Republic barge company is named after the late Captain Victor Sewer, a well-respected, prominent St. Johnian, renowned as a man of the sea. The CEO of Republic is his grandson, Lewelen "Little Lew" Sewer.

Little Lew

The General is operated by the Boynes, family company Boyson Inc. A plaque honoring Loredon Boynes is displayed prominently at the Cruz Bay Dock.
