Cruz Bay Beach, located right downtown,
is a pretty sand beach fringed with coconut palms and seagrapes.
The beach is a nice place to sit and enjoy the scenery and the
activity of the harbor. It is not, however, particularly good for
swimming or water sports because of heavy commercial and pleasure
boat traffic.
Get off the ferry and you’re there.
Cruz Bay is the main town in St. John. There are dumpsters and
garbage cans, public bath rooms, and a dinghy dock for visiting
sailors. In town are the government offices, police and fire stations,
Post Office, National Park Visitor Center, library, museum, businesses,
shops and restaurants.
